Taiwan Hardware Show
The treasures of an island
Coveted by some, protected by others, Taiwan is today the object of all attention. Little known, just a few years ago, to the point that it was difficult for many to locate the island on the world map, times have changed since then and the Republic of China occupies large echoes almost daily in the international media. But, fortunately it is not only for military reasons. The Republic of China, since that is its name, is one of the major players in the technological revolution that will shake up our world. The phenomenon has not escaped the organizers of the Taiwan Hardware Show which will be held from October 23 to 25 in the heart of the capital Taipei.

ToggleIndeed, the entire planet depends on what the industrialists of this country of about thirty million inhabitants produce that is most precious and most essential to our daily lives. Without them, everything would almost stop working, causing, according to experts, a crisis more serious than all the economic catastrophes ever known. This is of course, semiconductors and microprocessors, of which Taiwanese manufacturers are today and probably for a long time the undisputed world champions, which according to official figures supply no less than 70% of global demand and of which TSMC is the leader in all categories. However, competition is growing, particularly from the People's Republic of China, the cumbersome neighbor whose threatening ambitions are well known, a subject on which we will not dwell. The fact remains that Beijing is mobilizing on a large scale to catch up, and the government is spending without counting, but still without any really significant results to date. And it is not only in China that investment is being made in the competition to master these infinitely small products. But for the moment, nothing is working. The Taiwanese continue to lead the race.
Anything but chance
However, these exceptional performances that make Taiwan a territory on which the whole world depends are in no way the result of chance, quite the contrary. They are the result of an industrial shift taken many years ago, that of involvement in the fields of high technology. This desire to position itself as one of the world leaders in High Tech is the result of cooperation between local government authorities and players in the sector. This is how the computer sector was occupied very early on by brands that have made their way, like Asus, Acer or MSI. Not forgetting the world of mobile phones occupied very early on by HTC with certainly less success in the face of global competition, but the name had struck people's minds. Not forgetting the giant Foxconn, the world's largest manufacturer of iPhones, created and managed by a genius entrepreneur named Terry Gou, where around a million people work. Finally, the entire profession from all over the world meets every year at a world-renowned event, namely Computex dedicated to all the latest developments and innovations in the entire field of IT, where visitors can discover Taiwanese know-how on this international platform. However, we have not yet seen anything about the rise of high technology in our lives as citizens and consumers with the advent of artificial intelligence, the consequences of which are incalculable as it seems limitless. Obviously, it goes without saying that Taiwanese manufacturers and subcontractors are already at the forefront in this world where they are investing massively in terms of research and development.
Taiwan Hardware Show on a roll
It goes without saying that all professional worlds are involved in this environment and professional tools are no exception to the rule. With a global objective of quality for everything manufactured in Taiwan, tools take full advantage of technology, both for ergonomics, functionality, efficiency and durability. This means that the sector, which has always benefited from an image of quality, sees it reinforced thanks to the efforts of manufacturers in terms of research and development. The result of all this work will be visible and exhibited at the 2024 edition of the show. THS, acronym for Taiwan Hardware Show which will be held in Taipei from October 23 to 25 at the Nangang Exhibition Center, which will see its surface area increase not only to accommodate an increase of some 15% more exhibitors, but also to house a new department. Indeed, the show THS further enriches its offer each year. Thus, the 2024 edition will be divided into 4 poles, since beyond the traditional offer dedicated to tools, and that called T-Safe intended for safety at work which had a great success of interest last year for its first, the department called IMT will be present again for the ninth consecutive year and will offer, as always, the illustration of Taiwanese know-how in the field of high technology. But the big novelty this year will be the presence of an offer dedicated to refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilation. This one will be called RHVAC.
Year after year, the THS show, which will experience its 24th edition, expands its offer, according to a very precise logic that is part of a phenomenon of complementarity. With this mode of operation, the Kaigo teams seem to have found the right formula, and the results prove it, since they are recording constant progress despite the slowdown that has affected all the shows on the planet, due to the shock of Covid. In addition, the choice of Taipei as an exhibition venue is the right one. There is no better location for a show whose major objective is international development than its capital, especially in a city like Taipei, where everything is designed to make life easy, both for exhibitors and visitors thanks to first-rate hotel structures, fast and efficient transport and the proximity of the two airports. Alexander Keim, the young and very dynamic executive director of KAIGO, would not tell us otherwise, and he has every reason to be optimistic, since no fewer than 25,000 visitors are expected, which places the Taipei event as a major event in the world of important trade fairs in its field. In any case, this is already an edition that promises to be under the best auspices in a republic of China, known as Taiwan, which fascinates with its know-how and the considerable place it has taken on the world stage.
