GILE 2025 Exhibition
The sparkling thirties
The organizers from the GILE Exhibition can now say they are more than satisfied, and savor their success, with this edition which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary by posting record figures, whether in terms of number of visitors, exhibitors, or exhibition space. These exceptional figures, above all, demonstrate the vigor of an industry, its dynamism, and its technological advances that our Chinese friends seem to master to perfection. They perfectly proved it during this historic edition, which kept all its promises, in terms of offer, to the great delight of visitors from all over the world, who came to meet the expertise of the exhibitors of the players in lighting in all its forms.

ToggleAnd it's no exaggeration to say that there were plenty of new things and innovations during these days, as the show covered so much in a sector of activity that continues to evolve under the pressure of technology that nothing seems to stop, boosted by phenomena such as artificial intelligence or the Internet of Things (IOT). Their fields of application seem limitless, and we have apparently seen nothing yet. The fact remains that while the world of lighting is opening up unsuspected horizons, it is nonetheless making it more complex, so much so that the players in the profession, especially buyers, are now often obliged to be guided in their commercial actions. Also, nothing is more important than education and exchanges between buyers and exhibitors, who must above all offer solutions, and not product ranges without explanations or information. This is to date the justification for such a show, which allows for these meetings. This is what the teams at Messe Frankfurt, who are in charge of the event, have understood for a long time. So much so that the GILE acronym of Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, has become above all an interactive platform, where everything is in place to encourage dialogue. It goes without saying that to interest visitors, you need to know and understand the trends, both in terms of products and purchasing processes, and god knows if these are evolving at breakneck speed. It is also for these reasons that the organizers have chosen and selected some of them as unifying themes for this 2025 edition, which unsurprisingly enjoyed considerable success with 211,173 visitors from 151 countries and regions, meeting the new products and innovations of some 3,188 exhibitors, from 20 countries and regions spread over 250,000 m2, no less. It is true that we are in China, in the megalopolis of Guangzhou, in the heart of the very populated and very rich province of Guangdong, but still, these figures never cease to impress, and demonstrate the power of a country's steamroller, when it concentrates its efforts on an industrial sector, as is the case with lighting, but not only, but this is another debate.
Light for Life, thème et variations
This was the common thread of this edition that was discovered by those who traveled to the China Import and Export Complex in the city of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, a mecca for companies in the sprawling lighting sector, organized in parallel with the GEBT, acronym of Guangzhou Electric Building Technology. It is precisely in view of the exceptional dimension of the offer, both in terms of its volume and its depth, that the teams of Messe Frankfurt have created different specific spaces, which numbered 6. The aim was to demonstrate the immense possibilities that the field of lighting offers in our daily lives, from utility to design, from health to well-being. It is now an essential element of our daily comfort, and the movement is not about to slow down, driven by the rapid progress of technology. However, it is still necessary to explain all these phenomena, all these trends to consumers, and to those who market them, in this case professionals, and essentially buyers. However, the methods are no longer the same. Online purchases continue to progress, and nothing will be able to stop this march forward, as they evolve rapidly via social networks and digital platforms that are ever faster, ever more efficient, smarter, and more effective. It is therefore clear that the players in the sector will have to adapt to these new methods, which are not always easy to understand. Streaming videos, live streams, and AI-powered marketing are essential elements for retailers to boost their sales. Like it or not, e-commerce has become a must-have in our modern world. This is the first message the organizers wanted to convey. It has already been well received by professionals in the Middle Kingdom, now at the forefront of the field, but there is still much progress to be made both in China and around the world, and this is also what the organizers have set out to do. To this end, the organizers have presented the specific concept "Yang Selection," a thematic space in Hall 6.1 of Zone A, designed in collaboration with Yang’s Lighting, a very popular new media founded by M Yang Guo Ding. In this space, buyers were able to discover lighting aligned with six major lifestyle trends, highlighting innovative designs while leveraging e-commerce platforms and new media to increase the reach and influence of modern lighting technologies.
Variations
But to better help visitors understand what Light for Life, the unifying theme of the show, meant, the organizers declined it according to several trends. As we explained a little earlier, these were found on stand 6, and all had a specific name. Thus, the first pavilion offered a range of lighting products, including lighting for visual comfort (ceiling lights, table lamps, floor lamps and fans), ambient lighting and interactive lighting. Integrated into the home, offering a soothing and comfortable climate or dynamic and interactive environments adapted to the needs of users. Designed to enhance the ambiance of living spaces, they create a relaxing and welcoming environment, favoring comfort and functionality and were exhibited under the sweet names of “Dolce Vita and Parenthood”. The second, just as evocative, was called “Luxury and Affordable”. Visitors were able to discover elegant lighting products, including crystal chandeliers, artistic lighting fixtures, as well as creations whose designs were inspired by nature, and of course, sustainable. These affordable luxury lighting fixtures have grown in popularity in recent years, allowing interiors to be enhanced without breaking the bank. They combine sophistication and functionality, providing a visually warm atmosphere. They add character and well-being to modern interiors, combining luxurious aesthetics with everyday accessibility. Elegance was the name of the third pavilion. This one focused on artistic lighting fixtures, custom designs, and commercial lighting solutions. With a variety of shapes and designs, visitors were able to see that designer lighting goes beyond basic lighting to become an essential element of interior design. These fixtures enhance homes, creating a unique ambiance, through popular styles like Nordic minimalism and vintage industrial. Warm lighting options created a soothing and relaxing atmosphere in this pavilion, mixed with bold and creative designs that combined functionality and art. The fourth pavilion, titled Art in the Spotlight, emphasized the artistic dimension through modern lighting solutions, with geometric shapes, nature-inspired designs, minimalist aesthetics, and innovative 3D-printed luminaires. Lighting in our time goes beyond basic functionality, transforming luminaires into sculptural works of art that enhance interior spaces through creative stylistic use. Combining clean aesthetics, advanced features such as sound control and adjustable color temperature, as well as bold geometric patterns, organic shapes, and minimalist structures, these solutions offer a personalized experience while creating a striking visual impact. In this staging of trends, smart lighting could not be overlooked. It was presented in connection with another major theme of our time: sustainability.
Outdoor lighting, streetlights, landscape lighting, courtyard lighting, outdoor light strips, pool lights, solar lights, and much more—this pavilion offered intelligent lighting systems combined with designs that created harmonious and functional outdoor environments. By blending advanced technologies like motion sensors and solar energy with harmonious lines, these solutions sought to demonstrate the connection between humans and nature, thus promoting sustainability. Quite simply, this space was called Intelligent and Sustainable Lighting.
The journey into the world of trends ended in the future. Behind the somewhat mysterious term "innovative optoelectronic design" lay the future of lighting.
This space showcased cutting-edge lighting products, including invisible lighting, smart home lighting, holographic projection, and highly innovative lighting applications. Also on offer for professionals were areas such as circadian lighting, which offers customized lighting adapted to natural biological rhythms, promoting better sleep and well-being. Not to mention holographic dining tables creating interactive dining experiences. LED mood lighting, which transforms spaces into a dynamic ambiance, continues to amaze with the possibilities it offers. These intelligent lighting solutions integrate perfectly into modern life, bringing functionality, a pleasant lifestyle, and comfort.
So this is the trip that he had concocted Messe Frankfurt, under the sign of lifestyle in all its aspects, which modern lighting and its solutions offer. This varied and exciting journey has demonstrated the incredible possibilities it allows both in the field of well-being, as well as technological advances where AI is invited to the infinite possibilities of which we are only just beginning to approach the beginnings.
A huge global offer
For the rest of the offer, it is permissible to say that the GILE, coupled with the GEBT, With its thirty years of experience, is the most powerful event in the world in the broad field of lighting. Drawing on the dynamism of Chinese manufacturers, it is a goldmine for buyers from all countries. It is also of incomparable richness in the field of innovations, and there are many, as this universe is boosted by the now omnipresent galloping technology. Lighting has now become a major issue in many areas. It integrates essential parameters such as energy efficiency, sustainability, and respect for the environment. It is subject to increasingly strict legal constraints, forcing manufacturers and industrialists to be ultra-reactive, both in terms of research and development and innovations. After visiting this 2025 edition, it is clear that we were not disappointed. The overall offering is incredibly broad, from the smallest component to the most sophisticated equipment and products.
In conclusion, the GILE 2025 can be proud of the progress made in thirty years. It has only taken three decades to propel it to the world summit of lighting trade shows. This is the result of in-depth knowledge of the markets and meetings with various professional associations. This remarkable in-depth work, the teams Messe Frankfurt can be proud of it today. Their mission is more than accomplished.
