Heimtextil 2023

In sustainable mode

After the interlude of the month of July, here is finally the heimtextil trade shows back to business. This one will be held from January 10 to 13, 2023, thus finding its usual dates in the calendar of appointments intended for consumer goods, of which it will mark the opening.

The large platform intended for interior textiles in all their forms finally takes the place it would never have left if an ugly intruder had not turned the world upside down. This more than 50-year-old event will once again have withstood an imponderable, and professionals in the sector are doing more than rejoice since to date around 2,200 have responded to the call of Messe Frankfurt.

However, living room life Heimtextil has never been a long calm river because of its offer. Indeed, the sector had to undergo a formidable offensive from the emerging markets, a few years ago, which made European companies suffer terribly, a large number of which did not resist the Asian invasion and in particular the Chinese ones, the era. The latter are so reshuffled the cards, that they led the organizers to ask themselves the question of the sustainability of the show, a few years ago. But at Messe Frankfurt, we don't give up easily. This is how the show held its own during these complicated years, while the companies in the sector adapted for the most resistant by playing the card of innovation and quality in the face of the surge in prices offered by the Asian competitors, those of the Middle Empire in the lead. Throughout this period, Messe Frankfurt has multiplied its efforts to support exhibitors, and the machine has started up again, so much so that before the Covid shutdown, the show Heimtextil was in brilliant health with an average of 3,000 exhibitors.

New start from Heimtextil

Let's not hide the truth, the Covid crisis has been terrible and Messe Frankfurt did not escape this health disaster. It is therefore quite obvious that the peak of the pandemic has passed, the return to business has not been without problems, especially for organizers of this magnitude. But with their ancestral know-how, their tenacity, they managed to restart all their platforms and very quickly, all found their audience who was waiting for it. Still, the living room Heimtextil returns to us more dynamic and imaginative than ever for the greatest pleasure of all, as proven by the 2200 or so exhibitors who have already reserved their place. Admittedly, we are still quite far from the record years, but it must be recognized that this result is quite remarkable, when we know the disastrous international situation with the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, a China entangled in a zero Covid strategy, with difficulty comprehensible and the emergence, d of an inflation which proves to be galloping and is most certainly the major concern of companies. But now a key element for all sectors of the global economy is being invited, that of protecting the planet, where respect for the environment, recycling and sustainability are combined. It will be this last word that will constitute the central theme of the edition. Heimtextil 2023.

The big turning point

Indeed, behind this term that has been circulating in the world of consumption for years hide colossal issues. Due to the global geopolitical situation, global warming, purchasing power eroded by inflation, a page is turning in our lifestyles. The party is over. Put an end to waste, to the ephemeral, make way for a new responsible behavior, which will go through the circular economy, recycling, and consequently sustainability. This is in any case, the horse on which will bet for this 2023 edition.
This is how the show will be fully committed to the theme of sustainability. For this purpose, with the “green directory”, the catalog of exhibitors and the “Green village”, the show intends to provide substantial benchmarks in the jungle of sustainable offers. On the other hand, the “Green tours” will allow visitors to meet hand-picked exhibitors who are experts in the field Finally, the impressive “Future Materials Library”, will once again be present at the heart of the “Trend Space”. The collection of innovative materials for interior decoration will be presented by the prospective study firm Franklin Till. Under the title “Textiles Matter” the 2023/2024 trends will be exposed the sustainable textiles of tomorrow, where the theme of the circular economy will occupy an essential place, as the possibilities of recycling and reuse in the technical circle are enormous, especially with inorganic materials such as nylon, polyester, synthetics, or metals, without loss of quality. As for organic materials, such as linen or raffia, they return to nature in the biological cycle. These principles form the basis of the four trend themes named “Make and Remake” “Continuous” “From Earth” and “Nature Engineered”. It will therefore be nothing to say that the circular economy will be omnipresent, since it will influence the staging in the Trend Space, au sein du hall 9.0, et bien d’autres espaces et animations.

Evolution? No revolution!

However, we must not forget the fundamentals of the global offer, which covers the sectors of furnishing and interior textiles, bedding, bathroom linen, tableware, toppings. This is what made the strength, the originality and ensured the sustainability of the show Heimtextil. It is even likely that some buyers will see little of this inexorable revolution towards sustainability, in particular because of the level of quality that the products have reached. However, everyone should know that this is a ground swell that will invade everything in its path for the benefit of the protection of our planet and its environment for the greatest benefit of the consumer, who will ultimately only benefit from it. So it goes in saying that the train of this new world, Messe Frankfurt did not miss it, he even beats it.
