MIFF 2025
Ever higher
Malaysia is clearly a trendy destination. Its landscapes, its art of living, its gastronomy, the dynamism of its capital Kuala Lumpur make it an increasingly popular destination for travelers, especially Westerners who are not put off by distance thanks in particular to abundant air services. But beyond these dream images, the country has become one of the most dynamic in the South East Asia region, as proven every year the MIFF trade show which will be held from March 1st to 4th. It continues to weigh with all its influence and the quality of its offer.

ToggleThe countdown has now begun, and once again it will be sold out on the 100,000 m2 of exhibition space. Indeed, it will be held on two very distinct sites, and this is what makes this event so attractive, which has managed to keep its personality as it has evolved over the years, without ever denying its fundamentals and accompanying it towards modernity. Let us recall that the MIFF was born on the site named MITEC, acronym for Malaysia International Trade Exhibition Center, 25 years ago. Its architecture, unlike any other, has made it an emblematic place. Located at the foot of a business hotel, far from the sanitized standards of some modern European exhibition halls, a unique atmosphere has been created over the years, where it is so good to live, exchange, and trade. So much so that the show is experiencing a spectacular expansion, the organizers had to think bigger. And so, taking advantage of the construction of an ultra-modern exhibition center, they developed the MIFF on a new platform called World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL). And there, everything changed in terms of the size of the overall offer since the exhibitors were able to take advantage of this spectacular expansion. Companies that had not had the chance to offer their new products and innovations on the original site to which the early exhibitors had always remained loyal, were able to seize this great opportunity, and did not deprive themselves of it. All this means that the MIFF has seen spectacular growth from year to year, and this 2025 edition is no exception, as the organizers are expecting no fewer than 700 exhibitors in the 17 exhibition halls.
The post-covid stroke of genius
Yet everything almost changed with the Covid disaster that brought all the world's trade fairs to a halt. However, what could have been a fatal blow for the organizers, turned into a stroke of genius. While almost all countries in the world were still locked down, the Malaysian authorities began to loosen the grip on border crossings before the others. They had anticipated a gradual decline in the virus. This calculation proved correct and activity gradually resumed, under surveillance nevertheless, but without an oppressive character. The fact remains that the trade fair MIFF knew how to rush into the breach with great aptness. This is how, in the middle of summer, according to an unusual calendar date, the show was reborn well before everyone else. Of course, there were some absentees, but the main thing was to occupy the field and above all not let another year go by without the slightest event, even if during these two long years, the teams in charge of the MIFF had made great progress in many areas, which proved to be a considerable advantage later, when the situation returned to normal. In any case, this early return to business was decisive in the confidence restored by both exhibitors and visitors who enthusiastically welcomed this return to business, which means that today all these dark years are well and truly forgotten. Today, we can speak of a stroke of genius, as the affair seemed risky. But the risk and the audacity paid off handsomely. Better still, these years were not completely wasted. They allowed new horizons to be developed, particularly in the digital field. They also provided a field of reflection on the approach to an offer adapted to the new demands of consumer markets in the field of furniture in all its dimensions.
A dynamic that does not weaken
It was during these dark months that the teams in charge of the MIFF have profoundly changed the show. First of all, the hybrid offer was created furniverse and the application that makes visiting the show so much easier, by bringing it into the world of interactivity. On the other hand, the organizers have significantly modernized the offer where the design has made its strong entrance. Another great attraction of the show, besides MIFF OFFICE, is the Muar Hall coordinated by the Muar Furniture Association and design Rena Hall showcasing the finest furniture collections in Malaysia.
“The MIFF Muar Hall is an excellent platform created for our members to develop their brands in the international market. MFA’s plans for 2025 include strengthening the position of the Muar furniture industry in the international market, promoting sustainable development and diversifying export channels,” said Mr. Steve Ong, Chairman of the Muar Furniture Association (MFA).
On the other hand, the furniture design competition of MIFF (MIFF FDC) will crown the best young designer for this year’s theme “Fashion Inspired Furniture” after a record 335 submissions.
Two other key events will be the start of the KL iDesign Week, which aims to elevate Asian design to the global stage as part of a collaboration between the MIFF and the Guangzhou Design Week, and the return of MFID Awards (My Favorite International Design) for its second year, highlighting exceptional architecture and design. interior design. With all these events, it should come as no surprise that 700 exhibitors from 140 regions and countries will be present. There will be those from Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, India, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, and the United States.
As for visitors, forecasts predict the arrival of 20,000 visitors from 115 countries, knowing that 8500 of them, coming from 115 countries are already registered. Finally, the stand presentation competitions will not be forgotten.
So there is quite a program awaiting exhibitors and buyers for this 2025 edition which continues its path to success, with as a corollary this perfect organization allowing an easy visit between the two sites, a sumptuous gala dinner and finally and above all an absolutely unique atmosphere and welcome which makes all the charm of this exceptional meeting in many ways.
