Gile Guangzhou 2026
Light at the heart of life
Guangzhou, the beating heart of Guangdong province's economy, is world-renowned for its famous trade fair, which has attracted professionals from all sectors for decades. Its fame is such that it has retained its old name. Indeed, this name, which sounds French, has no connection whatsoever with our language. It comes from a blend of the Portuguese name for the province, Qantao, and the city of Guangzhou, resulting in this unusual sound that one might imagine originated from an old French colony.

ToggleNevertheless, while the name remains in many people's minds, it is increasingly being replaced by that of Guangzhou, thanks to the numerous large-scale professional events, such as the GILE, which will be held from June 9 to 12, 2026. Acronym for Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, that one will be held on the China Import and Export Fair Complex for its new edition placed under the theme “Light-Enhanced Living”. Organized by Messe Frankfurt, This unmissable event for the global lighting industry will bring together manufacturers, system integrators and service providers around a common vision: to make light a lever for well-being, sustainability and innovation.
The 2026 edition is structured around three main areas—Lighting Solutions, Luminaires, and Technology—and is based on five conceptual pillars: Biological, Emotional, Digital, Ecological, and Immersive. This holistic, human-centered approach reflects the profound transformation the industry is undergoing. Indeed, in just a few years, lighting and related products have gone from being basic necessities to highly sophisticated products, driven by the advent of advanced technologies. And everything suggests this is just the beginning, with the rise of artificial intelligence, whose limits are unknown except to the engineers in the research and development centers of companies involved in this booming energy market. Added to this is increasingly stringent global environmental regulations. Finally, thanks to all this rapid evolution, this industry has far surpassed its original functions, transforming itself in every aspect of our daily lives, from lighting our homes and living spaces to becoming an essential decorative element, and now a source of well-being. It is therefore in terms of solutions that we must approach this fascinating world.
Of course, when discussing booming markets, China has become an essential hub, as evidenced by the extraordinary entrepreneurial dynamism of its citizens. It goes without saying that they have invested in every conceivable sector of this constantly evolving industrial world. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that a high-profile trade show has developed and flourished there. It is called the GILE, whose definition we explained above. This year again, it will be full of exhibitors who will come to present their new products and innovations, which will be ever more daring in an offering that will encompass everything that lighting allows today and for the future. Lucia Wong, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt HK, The person in charge of the organization can only be delighted: “Lighting is evolving from simple functional products to systemic solutions combining sensors, control, data and services, thus forming an essential basis for smart homes and urban development.”
Solutions: Towards inclusivity and intelligence
Faced with this multi-sectoral onslaught, the main problem for organizers is to identify the major trends. In this area, the teams Messe Frankfurt, possess unparalleled expertise, due to their knowledge of the global lighting market thanks to the various international events organized on the subject, originating from their flagship, named Light& Building, which has disseminated its expertise across its various platforms and whose GILE is the most brilliant offspring.
Thus, one of the most striking trends at this year's event is human-centric lighting, designed to meet the needs of people with diverse profiles. Through dynamic control of brightness and color temperature, flicker-free LEDs, and glare reduction, designers aim to improve visual comfort, cognitive performance, and overall well-being. Artificial intelligence is also making a strong entrance: adaptive systems leverage contextual and behavioral data to optimize lighting in real time, thereby contributing to the decarbonization and energy efficiency goals of buildings.
The dedicated areas cover urban and tourist-cultural lighting (Halls 1.1–5.1, zone A) as well as AI-driven lighting solutions (Halls 9.2–10.3, zone B), bringing together brands such as FSL, PAK, Ltech, SKYDANCE and CDN.
Lighting: comfort, integration and exceptional design
The Lighting segment illustrates the evolving trends in ambient, functional, accent, and decorative lighting. Indirect lighting and concealed linear fixtures are gaining ground to promote spatial comfort and respect natural circadian rhythms. Emphasis is also placed on accent luminaires with narrow optics and high color rendering, as well as decorative pieces with sculptural forms incorporating natural materials and high-efficiency LEDs.
Visitors will be able to explore these creations in the Commercial & Household Lighting (Halls 9.1–11.2, Zone B) and Artistic Lighting (Halls 10.1–11.1, Zone B) areas, with exhibitors such as Tospo, MEAN WELL, UCOME and artistic brands such as ACE, BellaCasa and MOYA.
Technology: LED chips, smart systems and sustainable manufacturing
The Technology Zone (Halls 2.2–5.2 and 9.2–10.2) highlights advancements in LED chips, lighting modules, smart drivers, and integrated circuits. Miniaturization, connectivity, and responsible manufacturing are emerging as the driving forces behind an industry undergoing a major transformation.
Global leaders such as Bridgelux, MEAN WELL, Inventronics and Eaglerise will be present to showcase their latest innovations, from cloud platforms integrated with sensor control systems.

The GILE 2026 trade show This confirms a transformation already well underway: lighting is no longer a product, but a system. A system that captures, analyzes, adapts—and above all, integrates into logics far broader than simple illumination. The industry is reaching a pivotal moment. After years of incremental innovations, such as more efficient LEDs, slimmer designs, and improved energy efficiency, it is entering a much deeper phase: that of integration. Today, value no longer resides in the light fixture itself, but in the ecosystem to which it belongs. Artificial intelligence sensors, connectivity: lighting is becoming a building block in the architecture of smart buildings. More than ever, therefore, the GILE Trade Show has entered the world of solutions, which more than ever require a platform that facilitates exchanges, meetings, and information in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world. A final word for French professionals: how could we not recommend that they attend a trade show of this importance? This edition represents a unique opportunity to take the pulse of innovations from Asia, forge business partnerships, and become part of the global dynamics that are reshaping the sector. This is, therefore, an unmissable event in every respect.
In conclusion: The GILE 2026 propels the lighting industry into a new era — integrated solutions, sensory design and artificial intelligence all under one roof.
